[2017 NFL Preview] Green Bay Packers

Welcome back everyone. My goal is to try and get these NFL previews done before North Korea decides to throw a nuke at the West Coast and I either die or end up a radioactive fish person. Either option isn’t a bad one really.

Until that happens though, WE NEED TO PREVIEW THE GREEN BAY PACKERS!!!!!

One of the NFL’s “premiere” teams, the Packers seem to be good year-in and year-out, don’t they?

Well, how will they do this season?

LETTTTTTTTTTTTT’SSSS GET READY TO FUMMMMMMMMMMMBLEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

Three Things I Like About The Packers This Season:

-Aaron Rodgers: Aaron Rodgers is either the best quarterback in the NFL, or the runner-up. An argument could be made between him or Tom Brady in my opinion. When you have either one of those guys, you are pretty much a guarantee to make the playoffs and have a successful NFL season. That’s one big reason you should expect the Packers to compete this year. Rodgers is a stud.

-THEY’RE THE PACKERS!: People talk about the Patriots having a lot of success, but what about Green Bay? Year-in and year-out the Packers continously have one of the best rosters in the NFL. They haven’t had a losing season since 2008 and have won 5 division titles in 6 seasons. Green Bay owns the NFC North and if I was a betting man (and sometimes I do like to dabble in the ol’ gambling pool) I would bet they walk away with another division title this year with a playoff appearance on top of it.

-The Offensive Line: I don’t know how they do it, but even when they lose really good offensive lineman, the Packers somehow manage to replace them and continue on like nothing ever happened. Most NFL teams seem to have problems finding decent offensive lineman, yet the Packers lose players like Josh Sitton and keep on keeping on without losing a beat. It truly is an impressive feat.

Three Things I Hate About The Packers This Season:

-The Defense: The Packers are one of the most well-ran organizations in the NFL when it comes to drafting and developing talent. However, you shouldn’t overlook the fact that their defense is garbage. They were atrocious last year and I’m not expecting much improvement this season. Green Bay needs help really bad at the cornerback position. That was extremely evident last year and they didn’t do much for an upgrade this off-season, although I’m excited to see what Kevin King can bring to the table eventually. I really like Green Bay as a playoff team this year. However, they aren’t winning the Super Bowl with the line-up they currently have on the defensive side of the ball.

-The Running Game: Ty Montgomery was good last year for the Packers who were hurting for depth at running back. However, how long can we really trust a converted wide receiver to constantly take hits at the running back position? I liked what I saw from Montgomery last year, but I have my doubts heading into this season.

-Mike McCarthy On The Hot Seat?: Remember last year in November when the Packers were sitting at 4-6 and riding a four-game losing streak and everyone was panicking? When that was happening, the talk around the Packers was that perhaps it was time for head coach Mike McCarthy to go. His time with Green Bay had officially ran out and it was time to move on. And then the Packers went on an 8-game winning streak that culminated with an appearance in the NFC Championship. So, in the end….everything was all good for the Packers and McCarthy. However, what’s going to happen if the Packers struggle again this season to start things off? Will the Packers jump the gun and show McCarthy the door? They were supposedly REALLY close to doing it last year. What’s to stop that from happening this season?

The Prediction:

10-6
