2016: The Worst Sports Year Ever Part 2

2016 was already declared the Worst Sports Year Ever. Some thought this might have been a bit rash considering I posted the column at the end of August and there were still a few months left to salvage the year. So let’s see what’s happened since Teddy Bridgewater’s injury that inspired the first column.

Man. What a game between the Bengals & Jets. We were pretty lucky to come out of there with a victory, no doubt about it. I could see that being a playoff matchup!

As of November 26, the Jets are 3-7 & the Bengals are 3-6-1. This will not be a playoff matchup unless the rest of the teams in the AFC die.

Welp, tonight’s the night. Louisville vs. Clemson. The winner has the inside track on the ACC Championship. The loser has to hope and pray that the other team loses at some point.

A yard and a half short. Well that’s not ideal.

So I had to stay up late to watch that game, and today I got to deal with obnoxious Chicago Cubs fans. Good Lord. I used to like the Cubs, but their fans have gotten way too full of themselves after two seasons of being good. They come to Cincinnati and they’re so rude. Almost as bad as St. Louis fans. Hopefully they choke in the playoffs again.

Of course.

Louisville plays Houston tonight. The Cards still kind of have a chance of making the playoff but not really. But if they were able to kick some ass tonight…hey, who knows?

Louisville lost 36-10 and it wasn’t that close.

I’ll be honest, I’m having a tough time getting into U of L basketball this season thanks to the business from last season. But they’re looking pretty good so far this season. I just got home from work and they’re up 25-5 on Baylor in the Battle 4 Atlantis Championship. That’s pretty good, right? Maybe this team could be interesting.

Basketball sucks. Garbage sport.

Louisville football plays Kentucky. They’ll probably win. Don’t really care, season ended last week when Houston blew them out. Lamar Jackson needs a good performance here though. I mean, he probably has the Heisman sewn up anyway, but you never know. Recency bias is king in today’s society, and the last thing he needs to do is have two losses at the end of the season and make people forget about all the good stuff he did in the previous ten games.

Well then.

HOLY CHRIST IT’S ONLY NOVEMBER 26. THIS YEAR WILL NOT END.
