It’s been a rough decade for fans of the Sacramento Kings. After a fantastic run from 2000-2004 that saw some heated battles with the Los Angeles Lakers for the top spot in the Western Conference, the Kings have experienced a dip and it’s been an ugly one. The team has only had ONE winning season in the last ten seasons. They haven’t made the playoffs in over ten years. The team goes through head coaches like I go through toilet paper. And to top it all off, their best player (DeMarcus Cousins) has had a tumoltuous relationship with the franchise and some of it’s head coaches since he arrived in Sacramento. With all that said, I’ve got some good news for Kings fans this season. You should have your best team in over a decade this year.

That’s right! I expect the Sacramento Kings to have their best team in over ten years! I absolutely love me some DeMarcus Cousins, even though he’s a bit of a knucklehead from time to time. The guy can ball and I think he can help lead this roster to a little bit of respectability this year. I also love me some Dave Joerger. I thought Joerger did a good job as head coach in Memphis and was given the shaft by the team. I loved the Kings picking him up and choosing him as the guy to replace George Karl. Hopefully Cousins and him don’t butt heads and Sacramento is left scrambling to replace yet another head coach. I have a good feeling this one will work out though.

Just don’t expect the playoffs quite yet Kings fans. I like your team, but I don’t love it. It’s good, but not great. You are still a few pieces away from contending in the loaded Western Conference, but the team took a few steps in the right direction this off-season. Just continue the momentum and don’t fall back into the Western Conference’s garbage teams….which is where you’ve been since Chris Webber, Peja Stojakovic, Mike Bibby, Bobby Jackson, and all the others left town.
