Good luck figuring out this team. They have a brand new head coach who’s never coached an NBA game. They have a roster that features a bunch of players coming off of injuries and some were so bad that we aren’t sure they will ever be the same player again (Marc Gasol). And their answer to upgrading in the off-season was apparently to overpay Chandler Parsons. Like I said, good luck predicting where this team is going to land this season.
I could honestly see it going a lot of different ways for this team. It wouldn’t surprise me at all to see them once again finish near the 50-win mark, but there are a lot of things that need to happen for that to go down and staying healthy is one of them. It also wouldn’t surprise me to see the wheels fall completely off as the Grizzlies finish the season disappointing everyone and barely missing the playoffs. Memphis is a good team, but they aren’t a great team.
Mike Conley is a good point guard. Tony Allen is only around for his defense, but he’s not a very efficient player. Chandler Parsons is OK, but he’s a little overrated. Zach Randolph is good, but he’s getting up there in the age department. Marc Gasol is good, but he’s coming off a foot injury that’s extremely worrisome. And the bench is….well…..it’s not very good. This is why I have the Grizzlies finishing around the .500 mark myself. Like I said earlier, Memphis is a good team….but they aren’t a great team and good luck figuring them out.
